Who: Anyone who feels called or is seriously wrestling with a call to ministry. The residency is open to men and women who are at least 18 years old. The resident must be a faithful and active member of an SBC church or a church approved by the Residency Director.
When: Meet weekly, Sunday nights 6-7:30pm. The residency is a nine month program that will run from September through May.
Goal: The goal of the ministry residency is,
1. To expose the residents to ministry and help them confirm their calling.
2.To equip and train residents for ministry.
3. To help residents transition into fulfilling their God-given calling.
What: Each week, the residents will meet in a collaborative environment to discuss key issues related to ministry. Weekly reading will be assigned from relevant books and other materials. The weekly residency meetings will be led by Pastor Dave and be a time of discussion, sharing, and helping to sharpen one another as we plan and prepare for ministry. Throughout the year, we will invite other pastors, missionaries, and ministry leaders to join the meeting to share their expertise and knowledge with us.
Ministry Opportunities: In addition to the weekly residency meetings, there will be opportunities for hands-on ministry. This will include,
1. Teaching and serving in ministries at FBC that fit the resident’s calling.
2. Preaching lab for men in the residency who are called to preach. Preaching Labs will consist of preparing and delivering a sermon to an audience and receiving feedback from the Residency Director and other pastors.
3. Pulpit supply for FBC or other area churches as available.
4. Discounted Mission Trip through FBC.
